Jody, I enjoyed reading your poem. I am envious of your time in Colorado. I live in the state for 8 years in childhood and it is one of my favorite places. Enjoy your time there.
For several years now, reading poetry has been my chief path of devotion toward God. It took a while to feel comfortable with that, but it is how God has drawn me and made myself and the world make sense. Your poem here is beautiful. Just what I needed today. The compass imagery is perfect.
Thank you Rebecca--I'm so glad the poem resonated with you. And I'm grateful to God for the compass metaphor; that's how the words work best in my head...
I think reading poetry as a devotional time with God is wonderful. I also find that the right kind of poetry draws me into conversation with the Lord and causes me to worship.
Say hi to Tresta Payne for me! She's another PNWer (Oregon).

Thank you Matthew for saying so. It's my first time visiting this part of the country and it's absolutely beautiful. My soul is filled!
This was a great poem and post...
I can definitely relate. Several good lines...
"an oration/we miss"
"Alas, I find it's not the needle/ that moves, but me - spinning."
"Notice the dawn, read/ creation's lines and linger as the/ path unfolds."
thank you for saying so, Sierra, and for noticing. I appreciate you :-)
I agree that your poetry causes me to pause and ponder and draws me into prayer, just as Luci Shaw's poems do. 🙂 That's my favorite kind of poetry.

I like the idea of a conversation with the Lord, Stephanie. And there's so much good poetry to choose from!
Yes. Same.
