Christmas Picture Books for the Season
((in which my bookshelves spill over and I'd like to share))
The delight and wonder of Picture Books
My small space here on the ‘stack has been dedicated, lo these past four months, to poetic reflections and other made things. You can see what I mean by that here.1
However, thirty plus years in the classroom—either learning how to teach or teaching others—plus parenting and now grandparenting has led to an abundance of riches. And by ‘riches’ I mean books, of course.
If you or someone you know needs an idea of what to read and share with others this holiday season, I made a little graphic for you. (Featuring a strategically inserted photo of my book “Living the Season Well: Reclaiming Christmas.” You can find that here.2)
I also made a video of the books ‘cause that’s fun, too! (Background music is Phil Keaggy and the London Festival Orchestra “Majesty and Wonder” from 1999.)
And, because a picture is worth a thousand words, I offer you by way of inspiration, a photographic invitation as well.
I hope you find something that intrigues you—there’s so much goodness out there!
Besides, picture books are for grown ups, too.
What are some of your favorites?
We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled poetic programming later this week.

Ohhhh Jody, what a beautiful list of recommendations here!! I need to post a picture of our favorite books. Your video is so helpful!
I’ve got a few of these titles (The Gift of the Magi is an all-time favorite!), but lots of ideas for new titles to add to my family’s collection. Thanks for sharing!
