Here’s the text of Leafworks1, from my book Hearts on Pilgrimage Poems & Prayers.
Like the bound bud in an almost-
bloomed magnolia, there is life
ready to burst, tight secrets
on the God side buried within
these cool, bright days.
I’m waiting, watching, counting
the sleeps until a quiet wonder
world awakens. Amazed,
I waltz between the longest watch
from each dormant doorway,
through the chill and darkened
mornings to a heart like an open gate.
Ear cupped, poised for my next
birth, I linger for delivery
of the morning’s message–
free and God-breathed–
a silent, green unfurling.
You can purchase Hearts on Pilgrimage via this link and revel in the wonder of God’s creation via poetry. Bless you!
Gracious thanks goes to poet/singer extraordinaire Laurie Klein for the editing help on this poem.
Loved it! You are so talented. I agree we allow God to speak to just like the flower we should be budding His gifts, His joy and love for others to experience.
I hear your strong verbs singing! ✨ Such an expectant piece of work! 🌱
