A Poem/Prayer of Thanksgiving
Song and music and family and rain and well, Everything. Life is full and good.
God's glory is everywhere evident
On this November morn.
It whispers on branches and twigs in my view
Their summer-clad wings now unshorn.
Give me eyes, God to see your presence
Surrounding and speaking with grace
In family and strangers and loved ones,
The vision to see Your face.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade hosts are smiling in the pouring rain, high school bands are marching, ignoring the drops and drips on tubas and trombones. Dancers are high kicking it in between the sky-sent streams of liquid sunshine.
Do you wonder at their persistence like I do, marvel at their pursuit, the play and hard work? Ahhhhh…. it seems to me a picture of God’s love towards us—His persistence and pursuit of us. And, of course, a poem bubbled up as I glanced out the kitchen window (after pulling my pecan pie out of the oven) and I couldn’t help but share….
Taste and see, friends. God is good. Happy Thanksgiving!
