Here’s the text of Leafworks1, from Hearts on Pilgrimage
Like the bound bud in an almost-
bloomed magnolia, there is life
ready to burst, tight secrets
on the God side buried within
these cool, bright days.
I’m waiting, watching, counting
the sleeps until a quiet wonder
world awakens. Amazed,
I waltz between the longest watch
from each dormant doorway,
through the chill and darkened
mornings to a heart like an open gate.
Ear cupped, poised for my next
birth, I linger for delivery
of the morning’s message–
free and God-breathed–
a silent, green unfurling.

Gracious thanks goes to poet/singer extraordinaire Laurie Klein for the editing help on this poem.
Though I don't mind winter at all, spring is still a wondrous time of year that nearly everyone looks forward to. What lovely imagery you've created, Jody, comparing that anticipation to the unfurling of God's truth in our hearts--every day that we take time to listen, no matter the season. Praise God for his faithfulness, ever-giving of wonder and His Word!
Such a gift, having someone like you read to us straight from the heart. Fresh snow on the ground here; spring beckoning, through your words. Thank you!
